SF Summer Style Dilemma
I know seasonless style is all the rage. But I'm a Midwestern girl at heart who needs seasons to mark the passage of time and to set my mood. Even after 17 years of living in San Francisco, you'll still find me lost and confused in July when I'm aching for popsicles, picnics, and lots of bare skin. But the damp, windy fog outside is always calling for wool. One day I will create a life where I leave the city June-August! But for now, I guess I'll use color and texture to help me define the time of year.
Come March I start to strip my closet of the dark tones and heavy textures. I bring out the whites, greens, fresh florals, pastels, nudes. The change in color and patterns brings a fresh mindset. It also makes my clothes last longer and (sort of) helps soothe the urge to shop. I first shop my own spring/summer collection which has been nicely folded away November thru March. I get a closet refresh without spending tons of money and consuming more goods.
But I always make room for a few special new pieces to brighten up my wardrobe and to set my mood for the season. Here are my picks this spring, some new/some on repeat!
